Hocus Pocus Tiny Hotel

I loved how easy the self check-in and check-out were. The room was beautiful and had exactly the vibe I wanted, and the bed was so comfy. You can't get much closer to everything you need. Fantastic little hotel, and I'll definitely stay again :)

We've stayed twice, once with the kids and once without, and loved it both times. The location is amazing, about a minute from the Shambles, with a great pub next door. The building is old and charming, and the owners have made the rooms feel right for the period while still giving them modern amenities. Each room has its own carefully planned theme, and the little surprises make you feel like you've stepped into another dimension. I'll leave those for you to discover yourself. This is our forever hotel in York.

Clean, warm and comfy, with a fascinating theme and a great spot near the Shambles. The only catch is that the themed pub/bar next door can make it hard to get to sleep before 11.30pm. The owners let you know when booking, which I appreciate. Thanks for a lovely stay.

The bathroom was the one real drawback. It was freezing throughout our stay, with no heater or heated towel rail, and uncomfortable every time we went in. The main room stayed warm, though, and both it and the en suite were very clean. We stayed in the Sorceryum room at the Hocus Pocus hotel, and it was unlike anywhere we've stayed before. The wooden room and its charming decor were beautiful, the bed was big and amazing, and the tarot cards in the box were a lovely touch. The TV worked well, the kettle was clean and attractive, and I was impressed by the giant mugs and hot drink selection. There was a mini fridge for keeping water cool, too. I paid extra for fresh flowers and prosecco, and the presentation made it feel personal. The bouquet was big, the prosecco was lovely, and it came with large glasses. The handwritten note on old-looking parchment, rolled and tied with a ribbon, was darling. The bathroom soaps were good quality as well. You're right in the heart of the Shambles, but tucked around the corner from the big crowds. Valhalla bar next door is quirky and serves lovely mead and food platters. We didn't try the nearby pub or cafe because there was so much else to try in York. The hall's decor and lighting make the place feel special as soon as you walk in. We'd come back, perhaps try another room, though I'd book the Sorcyrum again too, and recommend it to others. I didn't give five stars for service because I didn't deal with anyone in person or by email, and we had no problems, so I can't judge it. I was impressed with how nicely the room was presented and its amenities. Thank you for a perfect anniversary stay!
