The beds were so comfortable, and the pillows were amazing. Each room has a record player, and reception has a collection of LPs to choose from, including some old favourites. We could also help ourselves to sweets, snacks, cold drinks, cakes and fruit from the complimentary pantry. Geoff met us at the train station and took our luggage, so we could start exploring York straight away. Later, he gave us a tour when we checked in and showed us to our upgraded room. The hotel itself is beautiful, and breakfast and the restaurant were superb. The friendly, smiling staff made it even better, especially Cara, the fantastic manager. We had the most amazing stay and can't wait to return. This is how a family hotel should be run. Thank you so much.

We booked at the last minute and were welcomed warmly, even though the team had a wedding party to look after too. They made a real effort to take care of us. Our dog was included in the price, with a bed, treats, bowls and toys provided. The room's layout was quirky but comfortable, and we loved having an LP player and a choice of vinyls in the room. The wedding didn't make it noisy at all. There's secure private parking, and both the parks and city centre are an easy walk away.

No.1 was a beautiful setting and helped make our wedding day feel special. The food, drinks and team were fantastic. We wanted a relaxed but elegant day, and that's exactly what we got, including the build-up and the day after. Thank you so much to the team for making it perfect.

Breakfast was great, and so was the bar, with lovely cocktails. There are lots of fun touches around the Guest House: a toy train running a half-hour circuit up high, record players, and dolls' houses stocked with tea and coffee. The pantry also has complimentary crisps and snacks. Check-in was simple and the staff were very friendly. Our room was lovely, and the whole stay was fabulous. I wouldn't want to stay anywhere else in York. Credit to everyone who made it so special.

My room was spacious and clean, with a bright bathroom and good quality toiletries. The staff were efficient, polite and knew what they were doing. Breakfast at Pearly Cow restaurant had plenty of choice and was delicious. The location worked perfectly for me. It was an easy seven-minute walk to the city centre, with the Minster, pubs, restaurants, shops and Christmas market. Far enough from the crowds to get a good night's rest. I'd happily recommend staying at No 1 York by GuestHouse.
