The location in the centre of town is the only positive I can find. When we arrived and whenever we left, there were junkies and random men hanging around in the doorway, which felt very intimidating if you were alone. Across the road, McDonalds brings noise all night, with lorries unloading at all hours and other general noise. I understand it’s a listed building, but the price should reflect that. Inside, the house felt extremely worn out. The carpets were stained and tired, the walls marked, and the wallpaper faded. The furniture was cheap and past its best, and the kitchen seemed to be falling apart. It looked like nothing had been replaced in decades. The place was freezing with storage heaters, and didn’t feel cosy or homely at all. We were given the wrong entry code when we arrived, which was especially bad in the middle of winter with a young child. The owner has a 6 hour SLA, so we couldn’t get hold of them. We’d planned a night in with Christmas films, but the TV volume wouldn’t work and again the response time was 6 hours. We had a few issues and tried to raise them, but heard nothing. I don’t know who’s writing the reviews for this place, but save your money.

The house is lovely and well equipped, with super comfortable beds and a nice lounge. The owners also leave fluffy white towels, toiletries, tea, coffee, and milk in the kitchen. We’d come back if the two roadside bedrooms had triple glazing, because the noise was awful. McDonald’s is opposite, and people gather there with their dogs until the early hours every night, not just at the weekend. We were there Tuesday to Thursday and got no sleep in those rooms. Once the crowds go, the bin lorries start. Such a shame, because with better glazing it would be perfect.

At £550 per night, I was really disappointed with this two day stay. The location may suit someone who wants a 24 hour McDonald’s outside the window, but the noise never stopped. Earplugs were provided, yet I could still hear everything, followed by trucks loading metal baskets in the morning. The house was tired and unclean. Toilets kept running after flushing, there wasn’t enough of the cheapest toilet roll, and most windows wouldn’t open, especially on the top floors, which felt like a fire hazard. It was freezing despite the heating being on, and the heaters weren’t up to a house like this. The living room rug kept bunching up and was a trip hazard. There were no luxuries, and when I tried to use the hoover, its nozzle wouldn’t stay on. I was really annoyed by the price, which seems to be for the location alone. My sister messaged the woman on the morning we arrived, but got no reply until the next day. That’s no way to run a business. It wasn’t a nice stay.

The location in the city is good and the heating worked well, but the house wasn’t up to the standard it should be, and the price ought to be lower given the noise. There’s no double glazing, and the windows in our room let enough air through to blow the blinds around. We had the top room, where the cream carpet still had long black hairs on it. It didn’t seem to be cleaned properly. Eight of us booked for a weekend exploring the Christmas market, but the house is opposite a 24 hour McDonald's. Friday and Saturday nights were unbearable. Drunken people played music and screamed outside, especially around 0200/0400hrs, and it sounded like a disco. The waste collection or shop restocking started afterward, so sleep at those hours was impossible. The house even provides earplugs.

People arguing and fighting outside McDonald’s kept us awake until all hours, so our stay was really disappointing. This place needs soundproofing. Loud music blaring at 2am? No thanks.
