The Crescent Guest House

Mo, the owner, was a proper gent, so helpful and caring. Thank you, Mo. The kitchen was lovely and available for us to use, with a dishwasher and fridge freezer, and everything needed if we wanted to cook. We spent four nights in this lovely place and were sad to leave. The room was spacious, clean, warm and comfortable, with a big bed, good-quality towels and a powerful hot shower. It's a short walk into the city centre, past a park and lovely shops. We also went to The Marrakesh restaurant, well worth a visit for the gorgeous food and ambience.

We spent five nights at Crescent Guest House in Dec 2025, and it was all we hoped for and more. Mo is a gem who personally made sure we had everything we needed. The place was spotlessly clean and well maintained, with comfortable rooms, an ensuite and a nice shower. The shared dining and kitchen area was well stocked, and Mo gave us space for our food on the shelves and in the refrigerator. His colleagues were pleasant, friendly and well spoken, and the other guests we met were polite and friendly too. It felt like a lovely blend of hotel comfort and the warmth of home. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting York, UK.

Mo was extremely helpful and accommodating throughout our stay, and we felt at home from the moment we arrived. The property is well placed, within walking distance of the town centre and close to all amenities. Our room was quiet and comfortable, with an exceptionally cosy bed. We'd definitely return and highly recommend it to anyone visiting York.

Hearing the birds in the morning and waking to such a calm melody was an experience I hadn't had in other accommodation. As a backpacker, staying in a true Victorian townhouse was lovely too. I was hosted here on 21st September, and it was one of the best places I slept during my 13-day trip around the UK. The owner, Mo, and his colleague were charming and helpful. The only downside I can think of is that the mattress was a bit hard, but I still think the place was very worthwhile.
