Altido Affordable York

The big drawback was the noisy gym next door, with loud thumping music from 5:45am to 10pm. It woke me each morning and made daytime naps impossible, so bring earplugs. The mattresses were lumpy too, and could use a topper to cover the springs. Otherwise, it's clean, modern, and comfortable, with a spacious room, huge desk, and private bathroom. The kitchen was only used as a tea and coffee lounge due to Covid, with free drinks, biscuits, and bottled water. The wifi was exceptionally fast and reliable, with speeds up to 100MB/s, and there were plenty of outlets and USB ports, including by the bed. It's a short walk to the centre, though the street itself is a bit ugly and industrial.

The staff were kind, friendly, and ready to help with requests. The wifi was incredibly fast, and the small place felt cosy, like a little apartment. It was clean and well organised, though there wasn't much space. The modern building is within walking distance of the city centre, and we thought it was excellent value.

A comfortable bed, clean rooms, and helpful staff made this a great value stay. It's just minutes from York city centre. Highly recommended if you want somewhere simple and don't want to spend a lot.
