The pub is friendly enough, comfortable for a quick drink, and has a small garden. I went to see the Roman bath remains underneath. It's a distinctive little museum that could use some money and fresh ideas to improve its look and appeal. There isn't much of the actual remains to see, but the gentleman who greets visitors is interesting and gives a good, descriptive talk about the place.

The Pompeia room made a great end to our evening, and the beds were extremely comfortable with an excellent shower. This was our first visit since the bedroom refurbishment, and we were there to celebrate our son's birthday. Just so you know, the pub doesn't serve breakfast, though there's a Greggs nearby. Highly recommended for a good night in York. We'll be back.

The museum underneath is worth a visit, and it's best to see it before heading into the main pub. For a place right in central York, the pub has the feel of a relaxed local estate pub. The people are lovely, the drinks are good and the prices are reasonable.

Gemma gave us a warm welcome when we stopped in for a few drinks after a day of sightseeing and shopping. The atmosphere was lovely and the prices were reasonable. We'll definitely pop in again next time we're in York.

The karaoke guy was nice, but jees, the beer was vile. They served lager in glasses meant for vodka and vodka lemonade in pint glasses. What a joke. The drinks were disgusting and the prices a rip-off. Shame on you!
