A good option for locals and visitors alike, with friendly, helpful staff and reasonable room rates. The rooms were clean and very comfortable, and breakfast was brilliant. There were cereals and pastries to choose from, but the full breakfast was the highlight, delicious. Downstairs, it's a busy alehouse with a great range of hand pull ales and plenty of wines and spirits. The pub with rooms is close to the city walls and centre.

The staff were so friendly and helpful, and the city centre location is stunning. The room was really comfy for the price. An absolutely 11/10 overnight stay, and I'll definitely come back.

For this price range, it went well beyond what I expected. The bed was comfortable, there were plenty of pillows and blackout curtains, and the room was pristine. They'd even left cookies and tea and coffee. Breakfast was huge and delicious, and the staff were friendly. If I return to York, this is where I'd stay.

A fantastic pub with great accommodation. I had a comfortable, clean stay, enjoyed the very reasonably priced drinks and great service, and got some helpful museum tips from Karen, the landlady.
