I wouldn’t stay here. I booked what was described as a luxury apartment for £250 for one night and arrived at the 2 pm check-in time. I had to phone the host for the keys. He said he was coming, but I sat outside for half an hour. Eventually the door opened and two rubbish bags were thrown onto the street. The host, who said his name was Faye, waved me over without apologising for being late. When I went inside, there was a horrible smell. I asked what it was, and he said maybe it was because he’d just hoovered. It smelled disgusting and dirty, like rotten feet or a dead body left to rot. I spent five minutes looking around and told him I wasn’t staying. He said there was no problem and to contact booking .com for a full refund. I came all the way from Glasgow, left, and had to find another hotel that cost £177. booking. Com called him, but he’s refusing to refund me. I’m utterly disgusted. This place isn’t luxury, and the host was shocking and a liar.

The customer service really impressed us. The washer-dryer was broken when we arrived, and staff came to try to fix it within 30 minutes. When they realised it needed a part, they took our laundry and brought it back the next day at no charge. The apartment WiFi was reliable for calls and streaming. Beds were only okay and might get uncomfortable after a few nights, while the two bathrooms were useful for our family and their appliances were well maintained. The kitchen had the basics, though a couple of things you might expect were missing, like a chopping board. There’s a medium-sized Co-Op right outside for supplies. The location was decent, and staff were quick to respond to anything that came up before or during our stay.

We had plenty of room for four in this small, very clean and well presented apartment. It had two bathrooms and secure parking, and the main attractions were within walking distance.

I’d had the apartment booked for almost a year when it was cancelled a month before we were due to arrive. I got no reply to my emails.

For the price, I expected more. The beds weren’t very good and looked worn.
