Wheatlands Lodge Hotel

Breakfast was served each morning, and the food was exceptional. We also had free parking and a lovely walk into York from the hotel. We stayed a couple of nights; the room was clean, with fresh towels, and reception were very friendly when we arrived. Everything was just right, and we’d definitely recommend it.

The Christmas decorations throughout the communal areas were stunning, and the bar had a quirky Laurel and Hardy theme with a nice atmosphere all day. We got a free cup of tea when we arrived, and the staff were so welcoming. Breakfast had lots of choice and was delicious. We didn’t know about the dinner deal, so can’t comment on the evening meal. It’s a convenient spot, about a 20-minute stroll or a short bus ride into the city centre. The rooms are fairly basic but clean and well equipped, with comfortable beds. There’s no lift, and the stairs are narrow and quite steep, so anyone with mobility needs should check with the hotel about what they can accommodate. We had a great stay and hope to come back next year 😁

The room was spacious and clean, and the whole hotel was tidy inside a fabulous building. I especially liked the Laurel and Hardy lounge and bar. Breakfast was lovely too. Everyone was friendly and efficient from the start, especially the male owner. The receptionist even came outside to point out where I could park. Spaces are limited and tight, so parking could frustrate some people. I’d definitely return.

We had a fab time here in late November 2025 and will recommend the hotel to family and friends. It’s within walking distance of York, and although the rooms were small, they were cosy and serviced every day. Dinner and breakfast were excellent, and the bar prices were very reasonable. The waiting staff were polite, courteous, and happy to help with anything. Well done to the whole team. Hopefully we’ll visit again.
