Guest House Shalva

A nice spot for family trips.

I was out from early morning until late at night, so I hardly saw the owner. Still, I came away with a good impression. The shore is about a ten-minute walk away.

The best part of our stay was the evening Georgiy welcomed us. We arrived around 9 PM, exhausted and hungry, and he quickly invited us to leave our bags and join the table in the courtyard with the guys from Chelyabinsk. He fried horse mackerel and fed everyone for free, then shared chacha, homemade wine, and fruit from his garden. The tangerines were nearly ripe, still green on the outside, and the persimmons were the best we’d ever tasted. We brought out our own watermelon, grapes, cheeses, and wine, fetched a guitar from the car, and sang and talked until 3 AM. After that, our host even took us to swim in the sea under the moonlight. It was the most soulful evening of our whole trip. On the following day, Georgiy’s wife made fresh, delicious homemade khinkali for lunch, at 1 lari each, and brought them right to our room. We were four people and stayed a couple of nights in a two-room apartment. It was clean and roomy, with a comfortable double bed in one room and a single bed plus a fold-out sofa in the other. The kitchen was spacious and fully equipped, and the bathroom had what we needed. There’s also a large courtyard with parking for several cars. The sea is a seven-minute walk away, and the huge Metro shopping center is nearby. We’ve stayed in Georgia five times on this trip, and haven’t come across hospitality like Georgiy’s anywhere else. We’re really glad we booked this guesthouse, and we’ll definitely stay here again when we’re back in Batumi.
