Hotel Aniko

The room was clean and comfortable, but the reception service was awful. We arrived around 4 a.m., after confirming with reception beforehand that it was open 24/7. The entrance door was open and a worker was asleep, so anyone could come in, which made us feel unsafe. He kept ignoring us and wouldn't wake up. When I finally asked for our room, he said, “no, no room,” then went back to sleep. We had paid for February 21-24 and arrived on the 22nd, so I told him he had to give us the room we'd paid for. Eventually he handed over the key, took my passport, scanned it, and fell asleep again. Then he searched all around for my passport until I had to point out where he'd left it. If the hotel can't provide decent service around the clock, it shouldn't advertise 24/7 reception. Opening from 9 to 22 like most hotels would work. If people went to work just to sleep, nothing would run properly.

Breakfast was good, and the shower was spotless. The hotel itself was super clean, with nice attention to small details, like the toothbrush and little tube of toothpaste they left during my stay. I found the quality much better than staying in an apartment. My general advice for Georgia is to book a hotel instead, since hotels here are much better than renting an apartment.

The location is decent, the rooms are warm, and breakfast is okay. Hot water in the common area is useful. It'd help to have a microwave for heating food, since there's no room service or hot food in cold weather. The woman making breakfast was rude and wouldn't answer questions. Some staff seemed to have an attitude, though the main guy at reception was an exception.

The rooms aren't too bad, but they need a lot of maintenance. They're spacious and reasonably priced. Parking is a problem, and there are lots of cars in the area.
