Marineza Guest House

We were about a 7-minute walk from the sea at an ordinary pace, and the house has its own parking that gets closed at night. The first-floor shared kitchen has what you need for cooking. Our room was clean, with a balcony, air conditioning, a TV, and a small fridge. The bedding was clean and white. Marina, the owner, was especially helpful and would explain things or try to sort out anything, whether it was finding a store or washing clothes. It’s a very friendly family home.

We stayed from August 1st to 9th, 2025. The sea is only a 5-minute walk away, with grocery shops and a pharmacy nearby. There are plenty of cafes for meals, and you can also use the shared kitchen. Our room was clean, with soft beds and comfortable pillows. It had a shower, toilet, fridge, and air conditioning, and the appliances were new and nice to use. Super!!!

We rented two superior rooms for 10 nights at Marineza Guesthouse. They had towels, a hairdryer, a fridge, air conditioning, and balconies. There’s a shared lounge with tables on the floor, and the rooftop on the 4th floor has loungers and tables with a sea view. The hosts live on the ground floor. Guests can cook in the shared kitchen, which also has a large communal fridge. We drove there, so the private parking was a big plus. There’s a barbecue spot with a gazebo and equipment, including skewers and grill grates, about a leisurely 5-minute walk away. Nearby are cafes, a supermarket, a bakery, and currency exchange offices, though the rate is a little worse than in Batumi itself. The sea at Gonio is clean, and the beach is less crowded than Batumi’s. Sun loungers cost 5 lari, though sometimes we weren’t charged. People from Batumi come to swim there too, saying the water is cleaner. The owners are kind and helpful. If you have a child with you, watch out for Marina trying to hug them or steal them, in a good way. Her husband makes great wine. They gave me 3 liters of Rkatsiteli, which we had with dinner two days ago. When I asked if I could buy some, they said it wasn’t for sale, it was for guests. Thanks, it was delicious. Tourists from Russia can pay the owner through the Korona system, which is practically like paying by card and can save some people money in lari. The only downside during our 11-day stay was that the power went out twice during the day. That wasn’t critical, since we were usually at the seaside then, and it wasn’t the owners’ fault.

The hostess, Marina, is so attentive, kind, and positive, always doing what she can to make guests comfortable. The building is new and modern, Mediterranean in style, with a lovely garden, lots of paths, balconies, and terraces for eating. Rooms are cozy and very clean, with air conditioning, a private bathroom, and windows facing either the mountains or garden. It’s peaceful and quiet, and the kitchen area is well equipped. The sea is a 5-minute walk away, and both the beach and water are clean. This is the best guesthouse I’ve stayed in so far, and it feels fair to call it a nice hotel. I’d definitely recommend it.
