R&M Hotel

Gr8 spot if you’re staying for a couple of days.

The quality is good.

Good conditions here.

We found this hotel by chance. The room was clean and cozy, and the hotel itself was very nice. But there were serious problems during our stay. Trains passed from 6 a.m. and throughout the day, with huge engines and very loud horns. There was also constant construction noise as the shoreline was being built up. The hotel is far from the city, and even Pizza Hut wouldn’t deliver there. Water was repeatedly shut off, apparently available at 10 a.m. and then again until it was turned off at 8 p.m. We were put on the third floor with our children, and the railing there felt dangerous because it opened onto “nowhere.” On our second day, the owner and her family, who live on the first floor with their two children and elderly parents, one of whom uses a wheelchair, told us not to leave our room before 10 a.m. so their children wouldn’t be disturbed. My four-year-old son was waking at 7 because of the time difference, and it was hard to keep him inside until 10. For all four days, we left in the morning and came back late at night. The owner seemed hysterical, or possibly bipolar. There were also threats that we’d have big problems.
