Lucky House

Giorgio, who’s almost Italian, and the lovely, warm Marina welcomed us like nephews coming to visit. They were attentive, caring, and generous, which is exactly how we’d describe them. P.S. If you’re lucky, you might get to try some very good wine Giorgio made from his secret stash. Don’t tell anybody 😜

The room was huge, the bed really comfortable, and having our own bathroom was great. We only had one night with Marina and Giorgio, which was a shame because they were such kind hosts. They speak excellent English and a little Italian, and even helped arrange transport for us, first from Borjomi by train and then onward to Tibilisi. Make time for breakfast: I still think about the fried cheese rolls and homemade jams.

We stayed in the main building, where the rooms were comfortable and a good standard. The thick walls kept things pleasantly cool, so the lack of air conditioning wasn't an issue there. The separate building has a five-bed room with a queen bed, bunk bed and single bed, plus an en-suite bathroom, but that room really needs air conditioning. Breakfast is available for a small fee. What stood out most was how George (Teimuraz) and Marina looked after us. Marina even came with us to the pharmacy late at night to get medicine for our daughter. We felt cared for like family, and she helped with whatever we needed, including health concerns and advice about local sights and history. George also spent time talking with us about Georgia and Gori. They run the guest house with real dedication.

Marina's generous breakfast was a lovely extra, and there's a very good restaurant called Joseph nearby for dinner. Our family of six stayed in a small room with three beds and slept comfortably, with everything we needed. If you're after somewhere for a night in Gori, this guest house works really well.
