The owner greeted us himself and explained everything. The fish was caught right in front of us and ready in 10 minutes, and it was absolutely excellent. This was a real highlight of our Georgian holiday. The restaurant is very basic, not especially glitzy, but the food and service were better than anything we’d seen in Tblisi or Kutaisi.
We went for lunch two days running and tried nearly everything. The dishes were all delicious, but the homemade wine was the best. Prices felt very reasonable to us: two bottles of wine, four servings of fish, salad, homemade potatoes, aubergine mezze, homemade fruit juice, and water came to 80 euros. If someone calls that expensive, don’t take their word for it, it’s well below European prices. Go eat there!
We had a lovely dinner at Georges Restaurant last night. The place felt cozy and inviting, and the staff were friendly and attentive. The traditional food was delicious, especially the meat dishes and khachapuri, both cooked just right and full of flavor. The prices were quite high, though, which takes a little away from the overall experience.
The owner is welcoming and friendly, and the atmosphere really feels like a Georgian feast. The food at Chkimarte is delicious. I do wish they had a menu, though, since the prices are significantly higher, around twice what you’d pay at regular restaurants.
This is a small family business, with excellent homemade Georgian food and wine. The owner is so friendly and pleasant, and goes out of his way to serve you as well as he can. I can’t find enough words for how lovely this place is. 10000 stars!
