Palermo Hotel

A nice place, and the staff are friendly and helpful.

Really great.

We appreciated having all three meals included, and the food was delicious, which mattered a lot for our family. The hotel is in a great location, the rooms are comfortable, and they have a TV, air conditioning, and a fridge. The staff were wonderful. Special thanks to Nodar, the restaurant waiter, who did his job impeccably and always asked whether we liked the food, how we were finding Georgia, and what we thought of the Georgian people. He also answered all our questions. I hope the hotel owner finds a way to reward him.

We stayed at Palermo Hotel with a group of friends in July 2025, and came away with mixed feelings. The grounds were clean, spacious, and well kept. Our room had decent repairs and furniture that wasn't worn out, and the air conditioning worked well. The hosts and staff were helpful and friendly, and handled requests when needed. The meals were fairly varied and tasty, especially breakfast and lunch, and there was enough vegetables, salads, buns, and drinks to have as much as we wanted. Meat was served in small portions by the staff, though, and we never got any fruit. Room cleaning was a big letdown. At check-in, the floor didn't look like it had been cleaned after the previous guests: dust was under the child's bed and an inflatable ball was out in the open. The small bathroom bin was emptied every other day or sometimes every two days, so it filled quickly. Toilet paper was brought only when the bin was cleaned, though reception gave it out readily when asked. On day four, they cleaned the floor, changed the sheets and towels, and finally took the ball from under the bed. That was the only proper cleaning for the next six days. By checkout the floor was very dirty, and we were carrying dirt onto the bed linen. We wanted fresh towels, but didn't get them. The plumbing also needs attention. The toilet, sink, and shower leaked, leaving water on the bathroom floor, and there were no foot towels. I put a regular towel down, but staff objected when they saw it on the floor while emptying the bin. They took it to be washed and gave us something like a large cleaning rag instead. We were lucky with the weather and went to the sea, so we never used the pool. It's small for a fairly large hotel, and once five or six children were in it, an adult could hardly swim. We also found its opening hours odd. It was usually closed, opened an hour or two after breakfast, then was shut again by lunch and after 6 or 7 in the evening. At another hotel we stayed at the previous year, the pool was open around the clock without fencing, and that worked well. The complimentary bottle of wine at check-in was a nice surprise at first. We later bought the homemade wine and chacha sold at reception. The wine was drinkable but didn't make much of an impression, and didn't give me a headache the next morning, but we didn't buy it again. The chacha was terrible and low quality, according to my husband, and half the next day was lost for the men, even though they drank little and ate well. A few days later we opened the gifted wine with our friends, but it was awful, fizzy, under-fermented and tasteless, with a light brown color despite being presented as red. We poured it out and left our unopened bottle in the room at checkout. The gift would have been better left unoffered, since it hurt the hotel's reputation. We stopped buying alcohol there, and noticed that tourists who'd been to Georgia before and knew wine and chacha weren't drinking it either. The hotel restaurant switched to made-to-order service after dinner, with a very limited menu. We tried the khinkali, which were tasty and had plenty of meat, but...
