Hotel Elegant

The people were great, the food was wonderful, and both the room and location were great. Thank you!

It was okay, not bad.

The views from the terrace take in the whole city, and the hotel's location is excellent. Bagrati Cathedral is a 10-minute walk away, while the Green Market is 15 minutes downhill. The walk back up is a bit tough since the hotel is right at the top. With hospitable hosts and a tasty, filling breakfast, it might be a particularly good choice in summer. We stayed over New Year, though, and the rooms were very cold. The air conditioners can heat, but there were no remotes at first. We eventually got one, but the TV remote didn't work, though we didn't really need it. I was also surprised there was just one towel, with no floor towel or washcloth. That made me question the hotel's 3-star rating. It wasn't especially quiet either, with children stomping and shouting late into the night, perhaps because of the holidays. The shower setup was very poor, and water ended up all over the floor whenever someone used it.

The rooms were cold when we arrived late and tired in October. The owners said the heat was off because it was off-season, and at first claimed there were no air conditioner remotes. My friends and I had five rooms, and only after repeated requests through our guide did we manage to get some. Even then, the air conditioning didn't work. The owners were very unfriendly. At breakfast they had run out of milk for coffee, and when we asked for more, they said that was normal. We've visited Georgia before, but never had a welcome like this. The furniture is old and the plumbing is worn out. Soundproofing is awful, and the floors creaked terribly whenever someone walked on the second floor.
