Ciuri's Guesthouse

Ciuri sets such a high standard that other guesthouses along the trail seem less impressive afterward. If you're hiking from Mestia to Ushguli, stay here. I loved my cozy double room overlooking the garden, and the bathrooms were spacious. The shower had plenty of hot water, the best in Svaneti. Food was fresh, delicious, and generous. Breakfast or dinner cost 25 GEL, or 50 for both, good value for the portions. The honey comes from her garden, and Ciuri even gave me a pot to take home. Laundry was free, too. In July, the garden raspberries were delicious. She's a wonderful host and gave me an unforgettable stay. I really hope to return someday.

We didn't stay overnight, but stopped on the way to Adishi and the owner made us a delicious Georgian lunch. She was welcoming, and her garden felt dreamy. The food was so tasty and there was lots of it, all for 20 GEL per person. Definitely recommend it.

We felt at home with Ciuri, who was lovely and funny. It was the cleanest place we've ever stayed, with nice tiled bathrooms and a shower that stayed plenty hot. The food was exceptional. Ciuri shared wine and homemade chacha with us, and gave us plastic bags so we could pack our leftover breakfast for lunch.

If you're hiking, definitely stay here. Everything was spotless and tidy, and the beds were super comfortable. The storm knocked out the power, so they arranged to charge our phone using a neighbour's generator. There was so much delicious homemade food, including yogurt, cheese, and honey, that we couldn't finish dinner, breakfast, or the packed lunch.
