River side SVANETI

Before hiking Mestia-Ushguli, we stayed here in our van. The setting is fantastic, and there’s a river to cool off in after a long day of travel. It cost us 30 GEL a night to sleep in the van, and we paid 15 GEL per night to leave it parked here while we were hiking. The hosts were very friendly and helpful.

The stay was above average, and there’s a good view from a fire spot about 20 metres up the hill. Downstairs are two rooms with their own toilet and bathroom, while the four rooms upstairs share one. For cooking, they provide firewood, a fridge, gas, cooking pots, and basic supplies. I’d bring your own cooking vessel.

We arrived without planning ahead and ended up staying for three days. The family was so friendly, and the meals were delicious. We especially liked the cozy kitchen and living room. It’s a nice base for setting out on different hikes, and we had a lovely time there. Definitely recommend it!

We spent three amazing days in this house, which has a big, private plot in a great location. Nino and her mom made us feel so welcome and cooked wonderful food. Everything we needed was at the property, and all the food came from their farm. We met some great people there and had a campfire twice. There’s easy access to the river and to a tough but worthwhile hike with great views. They also gave us lots of useful information about the area. Highly recommend staying here if you visit Mestia.
