Hotel Tusheti

The host rescued us from the road after both of our car’s tires went flat, their sidewalls cut by sharp rocks. We were still 5 km from the hotel, and the car couldn’t move. We arranged to stay one night, though the accommodations were less comfortable than we’d hoped. The bed had a new, very comfortable mattress and sheets, and the room and hotel were clean and nicely decorated. There was only one shared toilet on the second floor. The room had no key, so we couldn’t secure our belongings if we left. The night cost 180 lari and included supper and breakfast, both filling and delicious. The host, her family, and the other guests all tried to help with the car. We chose another option: there were no repair shops nearby, and fixing it would have meant taking the wheels across the pass to the nearest city, buying new tires, then bringing them back over the mountain. Instead, we hired a 6x6 flatbed wrecker to haul the car down to the lowlands. Thanks again for the help, kindness, and delicious meals. We appreciated it all.
