The host was very accommodating and brought us locally made wine with cherries. Our room was okay, though damp was coming through the floor or wall, apparently because the shower in the next room wasn’t enclosed. Apart from that, it was a lovely stay in a beautiful town, close to wine tasting and lookout points.

The place looks really nice and has a great view, but the meal was disappointing. The chicken was very dry and barely seasoned, the mushroom soup was about 70% oil, and the rest was okay but nothing special. The beers were warm too. We only went there for dinner, so this is about the restaurant. Service was unfriendly. Nobody cleared our table for an hour, and we had to go to the front to ask for a receipt. That took a while too, even after we approached them ourselves. Not recommendable :(

The location in the city centre is the only good part. The rooms and bathroom smelled musty, and the bathroom was dirty with bugs in it. The little toiletries were mouldy and half used. The price is far too high for this standard, even compared with other local guest houses.

Ilia and his family made us feel so welcome, and he’s an amazing cook. My mother and I stayed at Kusika and loved it. If we ever return to Georgia, we’d come back to Kusika without question. Do yourself a solid and stay with Ilia.

Kusika sits in the middle of the lovely village of signaghi, with an amazing view over an endless valley. The owner was super nice and welcoming, and offered us lots of his homemade cha-cha (Georgian spirit). We spent one night in their suite with a balcony and jacuzzy, and had a wonderful dinner. I’ll dream about this place my whole life.
