Belmonte Kazbegi

My partner and I loved our stay at Belmonte. The room was cute and spotless, the nights were quiet, and mornings on our balcony came with an amazing view. The owner was friendly and caring. We'd love to come back soon! 🩵

Avoid this place. We weren't given keys for the front gate and got locked out in snowy weather below freezing. The owners ignored our messages for hours, so we climbed over the icy gate, which was dangerous. Guests are expected to clean their rooms and take out their own rubbish. That might be fine somewhere cheaper, but at $60-70 a night it feels greedy and lazy. When we asked about breakfast, the grumpy old man acting as reception told us off for asking. They also tried to charge $150 for a small blood stain on the sheets, caused by someone cutting themselves while climbing over the gate. Overpriced, bad service, rude staff. There are so many nice places in Kazbegi, why stay here? Seriously, how is Belmonte still open?

The view was okay, but the owner was rude, unhelpful, and dishonest. We were locked out in the evening without a key, the bell didn't work, and he didn't answer our calls. He also wouldn't let us leave our bags there while we went hiking. Then he tried to charge us $150 for a tiny spot of blood on one bedsheet. Avoid this place at all costs. The owner replied: “I would like to suggest that publishing false information to tarnish our guesthouse’s reputation is not advisable.” Nothing in my original post was false. Everything was 100% accurate. He also said, “The individuals in question became upset when asked for damage reimbursement.” There was no damage, just a tiny spot of blood on a sheet. He lied that replacing it would cost $150 and tried to take our money. That request was fraud. He recommended readers look at his public response to his friend Hannah Keen's Airbnb feedback for a more accurate perspective. I don't recommend that. Hannah was too polite. I recommend never staying here because the owner is a liar.

We especially loved the upstairs mountain-view rooms with their private balconies, perfect for relaxing with family while looking at the mountain. Everything was new and clean, and the mountain views were awesome. It's an adorable family-run hotel, stylish and cozy, and the family are kind, helpful, and speak several languages. Make sure to try breakfast too, it was great!
