The outdoor seating is a real plus, with a view over Alazani Valley and the lower part of town. This boutique hotel is right by the fortress and castle in the center. It looks traditional and old from outside, but inside it’s modern and cozy. The rooms are spacious and nice. If you like modern steak, this hotel is for you. I stayed in the red room on the ground floor, just behind reception. It was nice, but privacy was an issue because I could hear everything from the lobby. The red bathroom was a bit much. Breakfast was nice, but you need to order it and allow time for it to be made. It starts at 9, so ask reception ahead of time if you need an early one.

The central location and great view are about the only good things I can say. The Wi-Fi was dodgy at best and terrible whenever anyone else used it. The room had funky decor, but nowhere to sit and work on emails or photos, even though there was space. Just two chairs and no table. There was a clothes rack with two hangers, I guess that counts as somewhere to put things. It was filthy when I arrived, with dead bugs by the door. The gentleman who checked me in noticed them, waved his foot over them, and left. Staff were rude and impersonal. The showers got hot, but the shower head was broken. I had to hold the handheld one because it wouldn't stay up, or use the rainfall one, which was clearly broken and let water out the side. Traffic noise carried at all hours. For some reason they played trance bass music all day and into the evening, starting at 8:15 one morning. Breakfast was a fail apart from the option to order French toast or oily eggs. The buffet looked old and stale. They had hot dogs in buns with ketchup already on them, and dried tomatoes, cucumbers, and cheese. I couldn't tell if coffee was available because it was hard enough just to order eggs.

We only visited the restaurant, not the hotel itself. The food was great, and the service was among the best we've seen in Georgia. Highly recommended.

A great place to visit, with a really good restaurant serving Georgian and international cuisine. Highly recommend.

If you go here, you should see the biggest tree in Georgia. It's on the left side of this building.
