Discover Kinchkha

I chose this hotel for its peaceful setting away from the noise and bustle. It's near a small waterfall, and there's also a hidden path from here to a cross placed on a cliff 500 m above the valley. The house feels like a cozy inn from an adventure novel, with a ground-floor fireplace that the landlord lights on cold, rainy evenings. The hosts are welcoming and love telling stories about the area and their 150-year-old estate. The old house is still there, with a nice collection of curiosities, and the hostess knows a lot about this region's place in Georgia's history. Don't miss breakfast and dinner. I especially recommend their take on khachapuri and the chicken and tomato broth served with corn porridge. Their red wine was better than most house wines I've tried in Georgia, and could be compared with some Burgundy wines. If you're up for it, try the homemade mint chacha, but don't be fooled by its mild taste. It's a good spot for peace away from cities or a trekking holiday, with plenty of interesting walking routes around. Hikers should watch out for watchdogs in nearby villages. The hostel has two dogs of its own, though, and they're incredibly friendly, especially the tall spotted one.

The popular sights take a bit of walking or a vehicle to reach, which was fine for us as hikers. We had a great stay and would come back. Johnny made us feel comfortable and welcome, even though we didn't speak the same language, and we always managed to communicate. For some extra GEL, he cooked generous meals with a wide range of local specialties to try. The hostel sits among the lush green hills of kichkha, with a beautiful view of the surrounding nature and a lovely backyard where you can relax.

It feels like a retreat where you can reconnect, with a lovely garden and homemade wine and cha-cha. The waterfall is a fifteen minutes walk away. Daridjan made the homemade food with love, and as vegetarians, we found it perfect. Such a great place, it felt like home.

In the village of Kinchkha, in the satsiskvilo area, you can relax comfortably and try traditional Georgian food, including vegetarian options, along with unusual alcoholic drinks and distinctive Georgian wine. The guest house is a great base for discovering nature, canyons, wildlife, and waterfalls, and you can ride a horse too. Definitely visit and "Discover Kinchkha".
