Guesthouse Ushguli Maspindzeli

We didn’t stay the night, just came in to eat after walking for hours through the villages in -20 degree cold. The food was AMAZING and so welcome after being out in that weather. The wild plum sauce was some of the best I’ve had, and we also had chicken in garlic and cream sauce, Georgian beer, cake, and very good coffee. I highly recommend this humble place!

A nice little cafe to warm up and get good food while visiting Ushguli. We enjoyed the Kubdari, Chacha, pork barbecue, and soups. The host was very helpful and friendly, and the inside had a nice atmosphere despite the rain and snow outside. The four kids in our group had a fun time too.

The owners are kind, hardworking, and welcoming, with real hospitality. There’s pleasant seating inside and outside, and the food, atmosphere, and general feel are great. It can get busy at lunch because of orders from guests arriving, so it may be better to avoid that time. Huge thanks to the ladies in the kitchen for the amazing food, smiles, and good energy. They also have a power generator for when the electricity goes out, a lifesaver in an emergency for remote workers.

The staff are wonderful and work so hard. The menu has lots of Svanuri dishes. Try the Kubdari and sulguni cheese with peppermint.
