Cozy hause

The balcony is lovely, the beds are comfortable, and the kitchen doubles as a common room. But our night was awful. Some long-term guests kept drinking until 4 a.m., so everyone else stayed awake. They’ve apparently lived at the hostel for about seven years, and they were aggressive and intimidating when other guests asked them to respect the quiet hours.

Elena was wonderful, spoke fluent English, and her dog Jesse was adorable. The bed was really comfortable and the WiFi excellent. It’s only a few minutes from Zugdidi train station, with banks, a mall, markets, and restaurants close by. Sharing a bathroom is part of the deal, so it’s a good fit if you’re happy to meet other travelers. Definitely worth the money.

The hostel has lovely traditional details inside, especially the wooden doors, and there are large balconies too. It’s very clean and close to the center of Sugdidi, about five minutes from the train station and three from the market and pharmacy. The kitchen is fully equipped, though the water in the bathroom was lukewarm.

The host and her family were so kind and even helped me rescue a cat. There’s a spacious second floor with a large bathroom and a fully equipped kitchen. The curtains also do a really nice job of keeping the light out.
