Benconi Lodge

I first came here for a photography job. It’s a classic-style lodge, quiet and clean, with decent room space. I liked the lighting fixtures, and there’s a golden antique mirror by a small high table at the hallway entrance. It looks especially nice when you’re coming down the stairs.

The WiFi cost an extra 100 GHS, yet it wasn’t always available, so why charge for something that doesn’t reliably work? 😥 My room also wasn’t clean, and there was visible hair around. Breakfast was just egg toast and Vienna sausages, with little variety. Staff could use service training to improve their hospitality, and a card machine would make paying easier. A local recommended the place, but I wouldn’t recommend it unless you’re after more of an Airbnb-style setup.

The owner is a very friendly woman who’ll go out of her way to help, and the rooms are clean and well kept. The reception could use a refresh, and they only take cash, with no card payments. Still, I highly recommend the place.

We arrived without a reservation but were still able to get a room. It was perfectly clean, and the service was really good. The workers are nice and speak very good English. It’s also very close to the airport, which is convenient.
