My fiancé and I were treated terribly here, and I regret booking this hotel. Koffi, one of the owners’ sons who works there, was rude, condescending, and unpleasant. His mother also spoke down to us and treated us as if we were nobody. She said the Accra government supplies their water and they can stop it whenever they want, so we should make do with whatever we got. They kept making us feel like we were the problem whenever we complained. Water was a constant frustration. It was very dirty and barely available, and they acted surprised when we raised the issue, as though we were wasting it. Rooms were cleaned every two days, and we had to keep reminding them to come. There was no food, so we had to walk miles to find some. Workers gave different prices for drinks and water, which was confusing and felt dubious. The location is a no-no, far from the main road. You have to walk there or order a taxi every day, which isn’t financially sustainable. I don’t recommend this terrible hotel to anyone. Do not book, for your mental health. I read the bad reviews but still tried it, and I’m sorry I did. They don’t deserve bookings. If you still go after reading this, I’m not sorry.

Wow, this was the best time of my life. I was so happy I booked this hotel for my vacation, and now I can say I have a Ghanaian family. The staff were amazing and always made me laugh. They took me around, and we played soccer together and went to the gym in the mornings. I’ll come back to Ghana for another vacation because of them.

HG is still one of the nicer economical hotels in Accra, but the room conditions and state of the surroundings make it feel a little pricey. I hope they follow through with the upgrades and reopen the kitchen.

The agreed airport pickup never happened, and the rooms could use improvement. If you only need somewhere to sleep for a night or two, or you’re on a shoestring budget, it’s okay.
