I’ve stopped staying overnight here because breakfast can be such a gamble, though I still drive over for dinner. The restaurant serves generous portions of hot, well-cooked Asian fusion food, something like Chinese or Thai. The fried glass noodles with vegetables are excellent, and the food is about as authentic as you’ll find in Accra. Dinner arrived in a reasonable amount of time. The rooms are spacious, with a small sitting room off the bedroom. The beds are strikingly modern, king or queen size, set on platforms with leather headboards, and one room we had even had a round bed. But the rooms and bathrooms weren’t always clean, and simple requests could take ages. Asking for another bath towel became a whole event. Breakfast is included, but the timing is unreliable. We arrived with 15 to 20 minutes left and were told the cook had gone and breakfast was over. After we insisted, a surly, slow waitress brought dry toast and tea. Get there early. On the one morning we had the full choice, it was scrambled eggs, toast, crepes, and coffee or tea. Fine, but nothing special. The place is confusing that way.

I’ve stayed at Luxe Suites many times and have always been treated with respect and big smiles by the staff. I’ve never had a problem with them. I also saw a group of 15 people cause a scene, insulting and threatening the staff. They’d arrived without notice or permission to do a photo shoot and were asked to leave, then got nasty when they didn’t get their way. From what I saw, they were responsible for the trouble and were lucky they weren’t made to leave sooner. They were some Americans, including people described as “returnees” from America, and later posted accusations here. In my experience, they were the ones threatening bad reviews when they didn’t get their way.

I found this place extremely unsafe. During a minor misunderstanding that was caused by the hotel staff, one of them pulled a knife on my sister. I expected better than such unprofessional behavior. We had to involve the police to calm things down. Avoid staying here.

The rooms are roomy, and the location makes it easy to get around with Taxify. What stood out most was the staff’s attention. I had an issue my first night, and they sorted it out straight away. The team was friendly and well organized. I do wish the complimentary breakfast had more variety.
