Tang Palace Hotel

The hotel is in a convenient part of Accra, and I found the surroundings clean. The facilities and service were satisfactory. I did have one bad interaction with a parking security guard who argued with us over a parking spot for no clear reason. Apart from that, things were fine. I hope the parking staff get better training in how to speak with customers.

For someone volunteering with a small, self-funded NGO, staying in an African capital can be especially expensive. The Tang helped make that feel less true, with good rooms and service at an affordable price. The free airport shuttle is handy, and the hotel’s close by and works well as a base for Accra. Food and drink choices are limited, though, to a continental buffet and Chinese à la carte, and they’re very expensive. There are good local places an easy taxi ride away.

I’ve been here a few times, usually for work events or work brunches, so I can’t speak to the hotel rooms. The staff are generally nice and helpful. The food is delicious, and I’ve never had a problem with anything I’ve tried.

The family room was very spacious while I stayed with my parents, and the airport pickup was excellent. Staff were extremely helpful and attentive, and breakfast was enjoyable. Cleanliness took a little away from the stay: the staircase railing looked dirty, the upstairs sofa had marks, and there were stains on the curtains. We were also disappointed there wasn’t a live band this year, especially over Christmas. Service through the stay was amazing.
