The “executive” room had nothing executive about it, and it didn’t even meet basic hygiene standards. The place is extremely poorly maintained, as recent reviews have said. Older positive reviews may reflect a time when things worked, but that doesn’t seem to be the case now. Avoid it. We’ve stayed in a motel in Ghana that was much better. The shower wouldn’t drain, the toilet wouldn’t flush, and the air conditioner made such loud noises it sounded as if it might come off the wall. It also blew debris onto the bed. I couldn’t bring myself to open the fridge again after smelling it, and we had to leave the back door open. Breakfast was included, but I used a spoon without checking it first and got a black mark on my mouth. There was black residue on the spoon. The food was below standard, and there was hair in it.

We’d traveled all the way from Accra for the beach resort, so the long, tiring journey made what happened especially disappointing. We were a group of eight, but ordered food for six because two people ordered separately and planned to pay for their own meals. The bill we received was for eight. I asked Mr. Mohammed, the QC and Housekeeping Manager, to check and correct it. He was extremely uncooperative, saying the bill had already been punched into the system and insisting we had to pay the full amount instead of reviewing the mistake. That response felt highly unprofessional and unacceptable. Guests should be treated fairly and spoken to respectfully when they raise a genuine billing issue. The experience left us with a very poor impression, and we’re unlikely to visit the resort again.

We told the hotel ahead of time that one traveler had a nut allergy, but that medical need wasn’t accommodated. About five minutes after eating a meat dish, the traveler started vomiting and continued for an hour. The staff denied responsibility and didn’t seem concerned. There were also several billing mistakes, and the amounts were still inconsistent near the end. Cashier Christiana told me to speak to the waitress because there was nothing she could do. Waitress Lily said the difference was small and I should just pay it. Neither apologized, and both seemed bothered that I had even asked.

It’s a pleasant place, though we have to adapt to the limited Western food options and very loud music. Still, it’s good.
