Gold Plaza Hotel

The front desk staff member, Erica, was rude, unhelpful, and showed no concern when we raised our problems. My family and I arrived around 8 p.m. and were told there were no rooms left, so we had to book the most expensive ones at GH₵1,000 per night. We were made to take two rooms because the hotel wouldn’t let our 11- and 13-year-old children share a room with us. Yet the parking lot was empty, the rooms looked dark from outside, and we saw no other guests, so it didn’t seem full. Our room had a broken key, and staff said it was the only one available. They wanted to keep the key and have us call whenever we needed to leave so they could unlock the door. They also said we’d be charged if it went missing. We refused, since that wasn’t our responsibility. The bathrooms were filthy, with dark stains everywhere. We had to pay extra for milk to put in cereal at breakfast. The AC couldn’t be adjusted from our room, and we couldn’t get extra blankets either.

A peaceful spot for some quiet family time in Kumasi. The conference room is spacious, and the food is tasty and moderately priced.
