Some rooms have roaches, and the rooms aren't kept up well. There's no iron in the room, and they'll charge you to iron your clothes. They also charge if you want breakfast brought up to your room.

The restaurant was packed on Sunday evening, with people eating in and taking food away. That seemed like a good sign, and the beef jollof was good. Breakfast starts at 6 am, and I had a pleasant experience with the front desk and security. I stayed for two nights in two different standard rooms. Both were clean, with hot water and complimentary slippers, a shaving stick, a brush, shampoo, bathing gel, bar soap, and moisturizer. Rooms facing the entrance were much quieter, so I'd choose one of those if noise bothers you. The rooms overlooking the restaurant and pool can get noisy from the open bar, swimmers, and music at night. They do have balconies where you can sit, listen to the music, and watch people having fun. There's also plenty of poolside space for parties and outdoor restaurant seating.

The hotel itself is clean for the most part, and the staff there are friendly, but the restaurant made the stay much closer to a 2 for me. It was hard to get the restaurant staff to serve us or bring a menu. When they eventually did, much of the menu wasn't available, and our orders were often wrong. They overcharged or undercharged us, then in several cases came back asking for the difference. We paid what was right, but it got annoying. The pool was cloudy and dirty while we were there, and the rest of the time it was booked for private parties, so we couldn't use it. The hotel has broken features, and the air conditioning and fridge stayed hot. Since the room key powers everything, it took a while to cool things down again. There was no iron or microwave in the room, though the hotel offered inexpensive laundry instead of an iron. We're still waiting for a refund for an extra night they charged after we had changed the reservation ahead of time.

After an eight-hour drive from the capital, I wasn't expecting much from the room, but it impressed me. The bedding was clean, with a large double bed and soft pillows, and the room was well appointed. The bathroom was spacious, with hot running water and clean towels. Some rooms have balconies, though I kept my door shut because I was worried about mosquitoes. It's tucked behind the petrol station and was hard to spot from the main road. Once you drive down, though, the gardens and a regal palm by the entrance make a lovely impression. The place was well lit and felt safe. There's a pool with a bar serving snacks and drinks. I'd stay again.
