Kingstel Hotel

The environment is really nice, and the food is great. I’ve rarely had such a warm welcome, and the staff are always ready to help. There’s a nice tennis court and a good-sized swimming pool too. In my opinion, it deserves a rating above its current three stars, more like 4+.

The photos don’t capture how spectacular the view is. All the greenery makes it feel close to nature, and it’s a strong choice if you want luxury and comfort without giving up that green setting. Bring sneakers if you’re into tennis, and pack your swimwear too.

The food wasn’t good, and I didn’t even finish mine. We’d stopped at the hotel restaurant with friends on our way to Takoradi and ordered two light soups, three fried rice with beef, and spring rolls. They said the food would take 10-15 minutes, but it took an hour. Our starters also came very late, even after we’d pointed out the delay. We kept getting excuses, including that they had a program and things were slow. Then one order of fried rice was missing, and the waitress said they were out of beef. If it wasn’t available, why let us order it? The light soup was delayed too because they were only then putting it on the stove. It was one problem after another. The restaurant’s customer service was disappointing, and I wouldn’t recommend it.

I went there for a conference and found it easy to locate, in a quiet setting, with very good facilities. The food tastes great too, so I’d recommend it for conferences or other events. I’ve been told that whenever president Nana Addo is in the Western Region, he lodges there.
