Emile Hostel

Luna, the hostel cat, was lovely, and the staff were really friendly and helpful. They even lent me an adapter. The hostel is close to the city centre, easy to reach by bus, and walkable from La Línea de la Concepción. For the price it’s a good option, though I found it uncomfortable. I stayed in a six-bed dorm with basic bunks and no privacy curtains. The room had no air conditioning, but at around 34 degrees it was still bearable. You only get a key for the front door, so the rooms themselves can’t be locked. There is a communal locker in the lounge, and you can get a key for that. Showers and toilets are in the hallway and seemed adequate for a hostel of this size. It’s a simple place, with no kitchen or laundry facilities.

Forty euros for a really basic dorm? There’s a hotel room down the street for 27 euros. How does that add up?

The location was great, and the staff were friendly. The rooms felt pretty basic, though. There were no curtains on the bunks and no lockers in the rooms. It also cost quite a bit compared with other hostels I’ve stayed in, some of which offered more services.

We had a lovely two-night stay at Emile Hostel. We’d booked two dorm beds, then got a pleasant surprise with an upgrade to a private room. It was clean and comfortable. Addie gave us a warm welcome and great tips for exploring Gibraltar and finding the best spots. The hospitality was excellent, and we really appreciated the stay.
