I booked through Agoda three months ahead, and this was the first place I’ve ever given one star. I tried to contact someone by phone, email, through Agoda, and by asking people who had entered the building. In the days before check-in, I sent countless emails asking for the details, but nobody replied. I couldn’t cancel without being charged. On the afternoon I was supposed to check in, I called Agoda for help. The connection was terrible, I could barely understand what was being said, and I got no help while I was panicking. The owner finally replied around 18h, when it was already dark, cold, and windy in winter. The first thing he wrote was, “How is it going?” There was no apology, which I found ridiculous. He offered to help find somewhere else, but it would be at my expense and cost more than what I’d already paid. Seriously, was this a joke? It felt like it might be a scam. My sincere suggestion: apologize first.

Everything I needed was in the room, and the location made getting to both the airport and the centre really easy.

The place looked more impressive in the photos. There was conditioner and body lotion, but no soap or shampoo, and the tiny writing on the bottle made it hard to tell where the lotion was meant to go. The directions were confusing too: I was given driving directions, which were no use on foot with all the construction work around. They mentioned a box that wasn’t there, though I did find an unlabelled one. There was also a reference to disabled parking, and when I found a space for a disabled person, I figured that must be the one.
