I felt so welcome at Mama Africa and was sad to leave. The garden and bungalows are beautiful, and the staff and service are amazing. Be sure to have dinner, it's worth it. They grow most of the food they serve at the lodge. It's tucked away from the busy tourist strip, so it's a lovely place to unwind. There's a beach area about a 10-minute walk from the main lodge. The lodge is Gambian-run and, from what I've heard, treats its staff well.

The food was a highlight, with delicious breakfasts and dinners made from fresh ingredients. The kitchen was spotless, so we felt comfortable eating there. We stayed two days and found a lovely escape from busy Tanji, with beautiful rooms and facilities decorated in an entirely African style. The pool was great for cooling down and lounging in the greenery. Every staff member treated us like royalty. Thank you all for looking after us so well ❤️

The food was delicious, and the place feels like a dreamy little oasis where you can unwind, whether or not you're into art. The staff were warm and really professional. Everywhere, you can see the care put into the details, and everything was clean and high quality, which felt unusual for the area and for Gambia. A fantastic experience!
