Djembe Beach Resort

I don't recommend this place. The security guard spat at us and vulgarly told us to go back to his country. He was aggressive toward women, so keep well away from him. He wouldn't let us walk on the sidewalk and told us to go onto the beach instead, because, according to him, the hotel zone ended beyond the nearby palm trees.

The pool in front of the hotel has no water and doesn't look like the pictures. The beach security guard was unpleasant, tried to spit, and seemed to have a problem with our skin color.

We stayed next door in the adults section, but were able to use these facilities. We tried the restaurant once and the food was poor, cold, and covered in flies. The tablecloths were dirty and hanging onto the floor, and the crockery was chipped and mismatched. I wouldn't recommend it. On our last day, we asked for a shower room and were taken to one on this side of the resort, above the bars outside. The bed hadn't been made and looked and smelled as if the previous occupants had left only minutes earlier. There were no towels, water, or electricity. It was very yucky, and I wouldn't recommend this side of the hotel.

The hotel was lovely, very clean, and had plenty of sunbeds. I couldn't fault it. A big thank you to Alex, the security guard. He was so helpful and nothing was too much trouble. He made our holiday. If you need help while you're there, find Alex. We'll definitely return to Djembe beach hotel.
