ibis Bata

The rooms were dirty and dusty, and clearly hadn’t been cleaned properly. I got a dust allergy and am now suffering from a cold and fever. The bed covers were dirty too, and they weren’t replaced. I told the supervisor about the missing welcome drink, but he didn’t respond or provide one. Very bad experience. I don’t recommend this hotel to anyone.

The restaurant serves a good variety of food in generous portions, and the staff are kind and welcoming. They mainly speak Spanish, but know French and English well. My room was clean and spacious, with a comfortable double bed and a good bathroom, though no amenities were provided. The room rate made me expect coffee or tea to be available all day. Breakfast is included from 6:30 to 10:00 AM, but after that coffee costs 2000 FCFA. Wi-Fi is capped at 2 Mbps, which is very slow and annoying, and it dropped out three times during my eight days there. One outage lasted 24 hours. Humidity levels of 70-80% made the lack of a dehumidification setting on the air conditioning uncomfortable, especially after a shower. When the AC was off, cigarette smell came into my non-smoking room, probably from another room.

The people are nice, the location is great, and the restaurant food is tasty. My room was clean and free of mosquitoes and moisture, and the treatment was excellent. I’ll always choose Ibis when I visit Bata.

A peaceful, serene place where you feel you get your money’s worth. I’d recommend it to friends.
