Century Resort Apartments

The grounds and pool are lovely, and the pool was clean, though some of the sun loungers were more comfortable than others. Breakfast was good each day and there was always enough. Most of the staff were very friendly. The resort in Acharavi, in the north of Corfu, is clean, though a bit dated, with some renovated rooms. Ours were simple but did what we needed. There were a few small annoyances, like a broken showerhead hook. It's on a slope, so there's a fair amount of uphill walking, which won't suit everyone. Large buses can't turn around on the property, so guests, including older people and those with limited mobility, have to carry their luggage up slopes and stairs.

The quiet setting and roughly 10 minute walk into Acharavi are real draws, and we had a good time overall with several friends. Still, the place could use some major improvements. Staff were only average for friendliness, and the pool bar waitresses kept sighing and pulling faces when asked for drinks. The pool was a good size and fairly deep, but the grass around it was left uncut. Wasps and mosquitoes around the pool bothered a lot of guests. Our rooms felt very dated, and some things, including the shower handle, were broken. The cleaners also left the balcony doors open, so mosquitoes got in every day. Breakfast was decent, but there wasn't much variation from day to day. The hotel has potential, though I don't see many changes happening for a while.

We spent seven nights here with friends and did enjoy ourselves, mostly thanks to the pool and happy hour. The pool was deep, clean and great, but the surrounding area really let it down. The grass was uncut, and thousands of mosquitoes, wasps, hornets and dragonflies swarmed around the sunbeds, food and drinks. It was almost unbearable. My friends and I were badly bitten, and had to go to local chemists for relief and extra repellent. There were mosquitoes in the rooms too, and the cleaning ladies left the balcony door wide open every day, so we couldn't get away from them. The walk from the pool, restaurant and reception to the rooms is another big problem. We were in room 416, up a steep hill and lots of stairs, and it was hard to make that trip several times a day. It's not accessible. The rooms are simple and clean, but the hotel feels outdated and needs an update. Breakfast was solid, with different options every few days, though the fruit didn't seem fresh. We enjoyed Greece, and Acharavi was great, with plenty of restaurants and shops to explore. I wouldn't recommend this hotel because of its faults, and I won't be back. It would be lovely to see an update and perhaps pavement around the pool instead of grass. Say hello to the cats for me.

The photos make the resort look really nice, with a lovely pool and reception, but our room, number 504, was a disappointing surprise. It was a long way uphill from reception, and walking there four times a day was tiring. The pool is only open from 10-18, so if you want to fit in both the beach and pool on the same day, you basically only get two hours at the pool. There were some good points, though. We arrived around 3am, and the receptionist was very nice, quick to help, lent my father a lighter and even drove our suitcases to the room in the company car. Breakfast had a great selection and was really good. The staff also let us borrow a few bowls for instant soup. The cleaning lady doesn't really speak English, but she's super nice. The surroundings are a bit dull and could use some care.
