Eclipse Tales

We paid a lot for this stay, and out of six weeks of travel it was by far our worst experience, including the customer service. We tried contacting Eclipse Tales several times and got ignored; at one point we were told we were “complaining for no reason.” It’s hard to understand how this happened when I couldn’t find other reviews describing anything similar, and I hope nobody else goes through it. The hygiene was awful. When we arrived after a long day of travel, there were ants in the apartment, dead ones in the bed sheets and folded into the bath towels, hair from previous guests on the floor, false eyelashes on the counters, and dead cockroaches in the outdoor bath. That bath hadn’t been cleaned either. The place looked well presented, which made the condition even more disappointing. At 11 pm we waited outside on the street while a maid did a quick clean. I appreciated that she came, but we weren’t given fresh sheets or towels, and barely slept. We asked for a deep clean the next day. After that, the room smelled strongly of bleach for the rest of our stay, and again there were no clean bed sheets. The listing mentioned cooking utensils, but there weren’t any in the room, and there was no stove. My partner has coeliac disease, so we’d specifically picked this place to prepare meals safely. We couldn’t do that. Our three-night stay in August was distressing and incredibly disappointing.
