Amira Luxury Resort & Spa

The spa and pool were lovely places to unwind, and the food was fresh, flavorful and different each day. We enjoyed everything from the breakfast buffet to dinner. Amira Luxury Resort & Spa has modern, luxurious rooms with beautiful sea views, and the facilities are kept in great condition. Everyone we met was warm, professional and ready to help. The service felt five-star, and the attention to detail made the stay feel special. The setting was peaceful, while also making it convenient to relax or explore Crete. We left feeling refreshed and are already planning to return. Highly recommended for couples or anyone after a relaxing luxury break.

The only drawback for us was that there isn't much to explore on foot just outside the hotel. Renting a car or arranging excursions worked very well for seeing other parts of the island. We stayed last year and found the whole experience comfortable and relaxing. Everything felt luxurious and high quality, and the modern hotel was clearly well maintained. Our beautifully furnished room was cleaned quickly and to a high standard. The hotel's beach was excellent, and breakfast and dinner both had a great selection and tasted very good. We also enjoyed the indoor and outdoor pools and the sauna.

The room setup may disappoint couples: a “double room” meant two single beds pushed together, not one double bed. Towels had visible stains, and the stairways were in unacceptable condition, with signs of poor hygiene. The stay kept getting worse over our seven days, and no compensation or goodwill gesture was offered. We're looking forward to leaving and wouldn't recommend this hotel. The fire alarm has been beeping for several days, seriously disturbing any chance of relaxing, and no proper fix has been made. At breakfast, staff don't even greet guests, which should be standard at a hotel of this category. The spa also fell short. There was no drinking water, and sauna use cost an extra €20 per person for one hour, which feels inappropriate for a place marketed as a “Luxury Spa Hotel.” Overall, it hasn't lived up to its promises of comfort, service, cleanliness or relaxation.

Dinner was varied every night, tasty, and had a pleasant atmosphere. I have bad anxiety, so getting food at a buffet felt daunting at first, but I soon felt comfortable. Breakfast was calm and not too loud, and we ate there most mornings. We were welcomed warmly late at night, and a kind man helped us to our room and showed us around. The room was spacious and clean, with a well-kept jacuzzi that was just the right size. The bathroom was lovely, though the shower room floor got slippery when wet. We tried the beach one day, but rocks cut the bottom of my foot, so I'd wear footwear in the ocean. Apart from that, the hotel was perfect for us. We really enjoyed staying here and would love to come back soon. Probably the best hotel we've stayed at on our travels.
