Edem Beach Hotel

Food was a strong point: it was varied and generally good, with plenty of fruit at every meal and nice ice cream. The hotel itself feels small and intimate. There’s one pool and a bar, and on the beach the loungers have mattresses and there was always space. Our room was on the small side, but clean. The bar drinks were disappointing. Most came from a dispenser and tasted low quality, though the beer and iced coffee were decent. Service could also be inflexible and occasionally unpleasant. My wife can’t eat cheese, but when she asked for pizza without it, they refused. Other hotels have made that kind of request with a smile, sometimes even bringing the food over once it was ready. For a four-star place, that’s the level of service I’d expect. There’s room to improve.

We spent five nights here and had a quiet, restful week. There’s no entertainment or loud music, which suited us perfectly, and the location was ideal for us, with lots of tourist shops, bars, and restaurants nearby. The beach is right outside the hotel. The sea was calm on a couple of days, with lovely sunsets, but at other times there were strong waves and rocks farther out. Beach shoes are a good idea if you want to go deeper. The staff were friendly and helpful. Our room was a decent size, the bed was comfortable, and it was cleaned every day. The pool was clean, and there were plenty of padded, comfortable loungers, so we never struggled to find one. The main letdown was the food variety. We liked the first day's meal, then things felt repetitive. Breakfast was consistently very good, and everything was cooked well, but there could be more variety. Drinks were another disappointment. The hotel says the drinks are local, and a few were okay, but the quality overall wasn't great. Branded drinks cost extra, and for an all-inclusive four-star stay I expected better food and drink options. I've had more variety at cheaper three-star all-inclusive hotels, where some branded drinks were included. That's meant as constructive feedback, because we really did enjoy our stay and would recommend it to anyone after a relaxed holiday.

A pleasant, laid-back place for a restful holiday. The essentials are all there and good quality, and the staff are friendly. It works especially well if you want to rent a car, have relaxed evenings, or take a day to rest.

The rooms are lovely, and the hotel itself is beautiful. Everyone made us feel welcome, especially the man at reception, who was very helpful with our questions and let us check out late because our flight was very late. I'd definitely choose this place for a relaxing holiday.
