The staff at Rodos star were warm and welcoming, and we enjoyed the bar most of all. The cocktail list had plenty to choose from, the bar staff were fantastic, and the gyros and pizza were especially good. There were several times for meals, plus snack options, though some lunch and dinner dishes were limited or repeated on most nights. The cola was the hotel's own brand, while the lemon Fanta was branded and became our pick. We stayed for seven nights in late May through a TUI package and arrived around 1am. We paid the tourist fee, which we knew about. Wi-Fi is charged per device: two devices for seven days cost 30 euro, with other options listed at reception. Air conditioning cost 7 euros for each day used; we paid 35 euro because we expected temperatures in the 30's. For an all-inclusive hotel, I think both Wi-Fi and air conditioning should be included. The pool is a good size and has a little kids' pool. It was chilly, but a nice way to cool off in the heat. It was busy during our week, and sunbeds filled quickly, so get one before breakfast if you need one. The onsite shop stocked everything you might need. We had a twin room with comfortable beds, and it was clean. There were two showers and two sinks, but one shower head popped off as soon as it was turned on, making it unusable, and one sink wouldn't drain. After a day trip to Turkey, we got back at 8pm and found the balcony door left open by the maid. Bugs, flies and mosquitoes had come in, and by morning we were both covered in bites despite trying to kill them and using bug spray. Some entertainment started very late. One night it didn't begin until after 10pm, and since our room was above the stage, loud music carried on past midnight. If you're a light sleeper, keep that in mind. You'd hear less from a room near the pool. The hotel runs buses to different places on the island, and staff explained the area and gave us a map. We only found out late that they also arrange trips, including one to Lindos with stops along the way, for a reasonable 35 euro. It books up fast, so book on your first day if you want to explore the island that way. The hotel sits on a very steep hill, and our transfer taxi struggled at first. Down at the bottom there's a nice village with shops, bars, cafes and restaurants, as well as the bus stop. You can walk up and down, but the slope is tough in hot weather, so take care.

We spent a week here for our honeymoon after booking through TUI. The resort has lovely views, and town and the beach are about a 15-20 minute walk away. The staff were amazing and so accommodating. Food was excellent, with lots of variety from day to day as well as familiar favourites. The lunchtime gyros were the best! Thanks so much to Mos and everyone on the team.

The food was some of the best I've had in ages, and this family-run hotel made us feel very welcome. The hill is steep, though the views make up for it. We'd definitely come back.

I honestly don't understand why some people come back year after year. The location isn't great, although the hill is manageable in normal conditions. In very hot weather, it would be a real challenge. The food was okay, but the pool was freezing. Our small room was alright and cleaned daily. The public areas were a disgrace: unclean, with broken fittings, and the pool toilets smelled and weren't clean either. The bar sofa was covered in ants and needed throwing out. Furnishings were very dated, public spaces were small, and there was nothing for children to do. The pool table was broken the whole time we were there. Entertainment was limited to three times a week. Staff experiences were mixed. The dining room women were pleasant, but the receptionist seemed to have favorite guests and was very cold with others. The barman never smiled and was curt. Drinks were okay but not strong, and sometimes the pool bar was closed. There was no free water in the room, even though the hotel advertised itself as all-inclusive. If you don't like cats, be aware they come into the dining area and beg for food. I saw one spray urine on the curtains, a guest's bag and chairs. We made the best of it, and the good weather helped. The hotel needs updating and expanding, and the problems I've mentioned need fixing for it to deserve a three-star review. People who return seem to be treated like friends, while others are made to feel like an inconvenience. I've never written a review before and I'm not usually one to complain. The mixed ratings may come from returning guests boosting the score, so be aware of the contrast.

The people here are what made our 10 nights at Rodos star so lovely. The team made us feel like family, and Moss, the manager, was the sweetest. It was also lovely meeting members of the family. Fillip at the evening bar and Ben at the pool bar were fabulous, as were all the restaurant staff, front and behind the scenes. Our room was kept to a great standard, with fresh towels every day. It was clean, tidy and had everything we needed. The food was fresh and delicious, though it did get repetitive, which is to be expected with an all-inclusive stay. There are also plenty of lovely places nearby to eat out. The hill is steep, but manageable if you take it slowly. Rhodes is beautiful to explore, and the bus is easy to use and cheap. Book the Kivotis cruise boat trip too. It stops at 6 places and was such a lovely, beautiful day.
