Stamos Hotel

The bar had good service and reasonable prices, but it closes at 12:30. You can take drinks back to your room, though they seem to prefer that you don't. The hotel could use some renovation, even just fresh paint inside, and I didn't find it romantic despite being advertised that way. Pool hours are good, but closing at 7 feels too early in summer. The housekeeper does a good job when she cleans, but there's no set time, usually sometime between 10 and 3, so it was hard to plan when to be out. There were an unbearable number of mosquitoes, and I was most often bitten in the room.

Afytos is a lovely, well-kept traditional village, with beaches around it, though they can look closer than they are. There are lots of paths to explore, a supermarket just a few metres away, and restaurants by the sea or in the town square. The people were friendly, the sunset was amazing, and cat lovers will adore the village. Our hotel seemed recently refurbished, tastefully done, with lovely rooms and pool-view balconies. The breakfast area was lovely, and there was a good choice; the coffee was very good. I only wished we could eat poolside. The pool was superb, and since it was quiet season we had it to ourselves, leaving us the difficult choice of which sunbed to pick. The bar area was lovely, serving drinks and snacks by the pool. The girl at reception was efficient, helpful, and friendly, and made the stay even more enjoyable. Rooms were cleaned daily, towels changed daily, and beds changed every couple of days. One small issue: the sheets were too small for the bed, which was amazingly comfortable.

The team were fabulous, helpful, and professional, and nothing seemed like too much trouble. We had the quadruple room, which worked perfectly for four women, and the balcony view was so relaxing. The hotel has everything you need for a really relaxing weekend with a partner or friends. I’ll definitely visit again.

I'd give it 4.5/5, for a seven-night Jet2 holiday. The location was great, and our first-floor two-bedroom apartment had nice views over the pool and out to sea. The rooms were really nice, the bed was good, and bedding and towels were changed often. The kitchenette had a fridge, kettle, cups, plates, and cutlery for preparing cold food. The staff were all great and friendly. The bar area was nice, with good prices compared to bars in Afitos. Breakfast had a reasonable choice and was good, though the hot plates weren't very good. The pool space is limited, and there aren't enough sun loungers; some are overdue for replacement. Better organisation might fit more around the pool. Bar snacks were poor and limited to hamburgers, chicken burgers, hot dogs, or toasties, with no crisps or similar to have with drinks. The hotel mainly attracts older guests and isn't really suited to families, since there are no facilities for children.
