Naxos Hostel

The location is amazing: cross the street and you’re at the beach, with a bus stop just a two minute walk away. To find the hostel, search for Aloha Beach Bar, since there’s no Naxos hostel sign outside. The owners are really nice. There are no kitchen facilities, which seems to be common on the Greek islands. My room was in the basement with no daylight, the only thing I didn’t like much. I was only there for two nights, though, and otherwise it’s a great base for exploring Naxos.

Of all the hostels I’ve stayed in, this was by far the dirtiest and most poorly run. I left to find somewhere else because it was so gross. On my second day, I saw the cleaner hadn’t even swept the floor. I showed the staff how filthy the room was, and the manager said he’d take care of it, but 24 hours later nothing had been done. The floors, showers, and bathroom were filthy, there was no soap, and the room smelled musty, like mold. I know businesses are short-staffed right now, but the owner should take enough pride in the place to keep it clean, or at least have enough compassion for guests to spend an hour mopping. AVOID!

The hostel is right in front of Agia Ana Beach, with the bus stop just outside and minimarts, plus a supermarket, within walking distance. To get there, put Aloha Beach Bar in your map. From the port, take the bus to Agia ANNA BEACH. The ticket costs 1.80 and you need to buy it at the bus station next to the stop, where they’ll also tell you which bus to catch. In Naxos, buy your ticket at the station or a convenience store before boarding. There’s always music at the bar and hostel, mostly Reggaeton and top hits, which I really liked. The rooms have air conditioning, but nowhere to hang wet swimwear, so you can just hang it on the bunk bed.

A really nice, comfortable place right on the beach.
