Rouga Mountain Boutique Suites & Spa

We liked the room, but the spa bath wasn’t working properly and water started spilling onto the floor. The village was completely empty, with no restaurants or coffee shops open. The hotel website didn’t mention that, and we only found out that the village is apparently active from October to April. Thankfully, we’d planned to stay just one night. The massage services listed on the website were fully booked. That was a shame, since we’d planned to have a massage, and it would have made the deserted village matter less. The staff, though, were very friendly and helpful.

The mattress really stood out, and the room was in excellent condition and perfectly clean. The wellness and spa facilities were as described, and the resort staff were extremely welcoming. It’s a wonderful, cosy resort in the heart of the traditional settlement of Agios Athanasios. Highly recommended, 10/10!

We liked the view, the warm, cozy Superior Suite Type B, and the village itself is beautiful. Housekeeping came every day, parking was plentiful, and using the fireplace didn't cost extra. They even saved our breakfast when we were late and called to invite us after we'd decided to skip it. When we asked for two more eggs, they brought them. There were some letdowns, though. The hydromassage tub didn't work, and although the room had a mini kitchen, it was missing a kettle, a proper knife, and basic utensils for making even simple food. Breakfast was included, but it was just one egg, a few pastries (which were quite good), and filter Americano. We paid €20 extra for a double espresso, which felt like too much. Some fruit and yogurt and better coffee would have helped, especially with no coffee machine or kettle in the room. The booking site said checkout was 11:00-11:30, but the receptionist asked us to leave at 11:00 because new guests were coming. I said no. Would I come back? Probably not. It's a shame that small, fixable things take away from such a lovely place.

We stayed four people for 30€ per person, so it was inexpensive. The apartment was warm and had a great living room, a small kitchenette, a fridge, and two bedrooms upstairs. Everything was clean, including the towels and linen. Because of covid, breakfast was brought to our apartment. The reception and other public spaces had a really nice atmosphere, and the host and staff were friendly and ready to help with whatever we wanted. One of the best places around, maybe the best.
