The location worked really well for driving to east coast beaches like Vai Beach and Itanos Beach. After that, we went on to Palekastro and had an excellent meal at Retro Taverna. We enjoyed our stay a lot, especially for the value. The apartment was spacious, well maintained and had excellent views, though the kitchen was a bit small.

The view was the one good thing about our stay. There’s nothing nearby to reach on foot, so you need a car, and the host wasn’t welcoming at all, only turning up to ask when we’d pay. No breakfast was offered. The apartment was dilapidated, with doors and windows that didn’t close properly, and it wasn’t clean.

The owners were kind and ready to help with anything we needed. Our apartment was very clean, fully equipped and comfortable, with a wonderful view of the Cretan Sea.

I booked Romanza Villas through Booking.com and cancelled in time to qualify for free cancellation under Booking.com’s terms. Romanza Villas still refused to return my 460 euro deposit. They ignored Booking.com’s request to refund me, then stopped replying to my emails. That felt unfair. Think carefully before booking here.

The family running this quiet, serene place were incredible. They were always around, very accommodating, and kept checking whether we needed anything. Beautiful, awesome place. We’ll be back.
