Achilles Plaza

I was happy with the hotel overall. The kitchenette was very basic, and I’d probably have struggled to cook full meals there, but I ate at restaurants most of the time so it didn’t matter to me. A room near the street could be noisy if you sleep with the balcony door open. I didn’t have to pay for the safety box.

The flat had everything I needed, including a comfortable bed and a good-sized balcony. I was lucky to get a ground-floor room near the pool and pool bar, away from the street. I had breakfast and a couple of lunches at the bar, where Giorgos Sparakis was very service minded. It’s a quiet, clean, family-owned place with friendly people and good service, close to the beach in Kato Stalos. If I return to Crete, I’d gladly stay here again.

Breakfast was very sparse: just a few pieces of bread without butter, coffee but no tea, and juice with no glass to pour it into. They don’t serve lunch or dinner and don’t have a kitchen. Still, the good points outweighed that. It’s a small, very nice hotel with clean rooms and attentive staff.

The room and breakfast felt more like three-star quality, but the location and staff were five-star. We really enjoyed our stay!
