The shower room was the one drawback, it felt too small. Otherwise, I really liked staying at Gianthea. The room was exceptionally clean and tidy, and the bed was especially comfortable, so I slept well. The kitchen had enough equipment for simple cooking, and I found the oven useful. It’s in a pretty good spot too, about a 10-minute walk to the seaside if you’re not set on finding a golden sand beach. I’d still recommend it.

The location was peaceful, and the beach was only about 150 meters away along an easy, flat path. We liked the quiet feel of Kato Stalos, with Agia Marina and lively Platanias just a short bus or taxi ride away. Chania’s postcard-perfect Venetian harbour is also easy to get to and lovely at sunset. At Gianthea Studios, we stayed in a four-person apartment with two balconies, one off the living area looking over the garden, and a private one from the bedroom. We had coffee in the sun to birdsong in the morning and a quiet drink under the stars at night. Even though it’s centrally located, we didn’t hear the nearby main road, just the birds. The mattresses and pillows were exceptionally comfortable, and two powerful air-conditioning units kept the apartment cool. The décor mixed modern style with Cretan charm. The kitchenette had all the utensils and cookware we needed for simple breakfasts and light lunches, and we could eat either inside or on the balcony. The pool was just around the corner and up a short flight of steps. Its bar had a good range of drinks and simple snacks. Daily cleaning kept the apartment spotless, with just one day off for the cleaning staff, and we got fresh soft towels each day. The owners made us feel so welcome from the moment we arrived. Nothing was too much trouble, and you could tell they care about their guests. Gianthea Studios gave us one of our most memorable holidays. Agapi, thanks so much for your hospitality. The staff were helpful and great, and the room was spotless and well equipped. The beach is just a 53-second walk away. Excellent location, and we’d definitely visit again.

Everything we needed was close by, including a lovely beach, restaurants, cafes, shops, and a spa salon. We had a lovely stay, with a clean room, comfortable beds, and great hospitality. Highly recommend for a Crete vacation.

Stalos is a perfect place to stay. The apartment was just right, and the staff were great. The bed was the best I’ve had in all the apartments I’ve visited.
